AHAEC Dressage March/April’06
Welcome to the AHAEC Dressage Page. This is a brand new feature to the AHAEC newsletter, designed especially for our members who compete and have an interest in competing in the Dressage competitions with their horses, handy tips and information.
Dressage and Sport Horse are two of the fastest growing facets of the Arabian circuit! It’s hard to believe that we are now outgrowing facilities Nationally, and had 88 Entries in the Training Level ATR class at Sport Horse Nationals last year in Virginia. A record 13 horses competed at Prix St. George. Dressage is here to stay!
I am your newest director to the AHAEC board, Elaine Ward. I’ve been competing with Half-Arabians in dressage since 1992, and have been involved in dressage since 1974. I’ve been long listed for the 1988 Olympics, and have shown in Grand Prix Dressage Competitions. I now exclusively work with Arabians and Half-Arabians in Dressage, and have trained and shown them to Prix St. George.
Did you know that you could qualify for Regionals, and Nationals in Primary dressage competitions? As long as it is judged by an EC Sanctioned Official, your scores will also qualify for Achievement Awards. Just make sure you are enrolled in the dressage qualifying programs with AHA.
Two Dressage competitions will be Milestone on May 6th with Don Barnes, and July 1st . Please come out and support these dressage competitions. Alan and Cheryl Ehrlick do an amazing job of putting these shows on for us! All levels are offered, and even the USDF Walk/Trot tests are offered, that are great for our new riders and horses that want to gain some experience! Entries are expected from as far away as Illinois and AHAEC members from as far away as Leamington. Horses will be competing up to Prix St. George. Don Barnes is judging the Region 18 Dresage Championships this year.
